I need, and want to continue the story of my recent journey to the writers’ retreat/workshop in Rowe, MA, and return journey, but I am in limbo on this one. So many other things going on in my life right now, including…
I have been working on my personal transition which includes reading works which inspire and encourage me along the way. As I read there are AHA moments which I write notes about so I can refer to them later. One of the blessings from my trip and the workshop has created another positive shift in my transition.
This weekend I bought myself three small gardenia plants to put in my front yard along the front of the porch. They produce small, lovely white flowers and a light gardenia scent. One single gardenia bloom reminds me of a time back in the 1970’s when I had a surgery. When I woke I was already in my hospital room. My bed faced the door, and as I woke, standing there in the doorway was my surgeon with a single gardenia in a small paper cup. It was so beautiful, and the thoughtfulness of that doctor is a beautiful memory.
Gardenia, Orange Blossom, and Jasmine are my favorite flowers.

Yes there are many kind hearts in our world and we need to remember them and not the others 🙂 He was a wonderful surgeon and had a kind heart. The children he did surgery on drew/colored pictures for him and he had them on the walls of his offices 🙂

I live in Wisconsin and had my gardenia planted in a pot outside during the summer. I brought the plant into the house for the winter, is there anything special I have to do to it to help with the transition? I have sprayed for bugs, but do I need to pinch it back or anything. . .it really Grew over the summer!

Mercadee, thanks for stopping by my blog. I live in Georgia and have mine planted outside. The gardener at Home Depot told me they are fine in the cold of winter. Of course, it is not as cold here as Wisconsin. I would suggest you go to a local gardening store either the garden center at Home Depot or Lowes, or if you have Pikes Nurseries there check with them. You can also google “care of gardenia” and you will find lots of sites.

Such a lovely memory. Sometimes people don’t realize how much of an impact their thoughtfulness has on someone else.

Yes it is a wonderful memory. I can almost still “see” him there in the doorway. And, after him there were my recently made (by their son who made them mad for again cheating on another wife/me) Ex-in-laws who came to see me because they cared.

You got a chance to think about a kindness that you hadn’t thought about in a while and I am sure so many other wonderful thoughts passed through your mind as you continued on your journey. Sounds like heaven.
