Autumn Leaves – Greenville Falls Park

Autumn has always been my favorite season. One Autumn a few years ago was extra special.

The tree colors in the city where I lived were more glorious than I had seen them before.

More wonderful, special people had come into my life…even if briefly. My heart used to hurt so much, when people who came into my life, and I would have liked to keep them there, but they would go out again; not for any bad reason, just life.

As I think about these special souls who come in and out of my life, I realize something magical about some of them. They have had unstable or life-threatening sad beginnings to their lives. Yet they and God knew they needed to be in this world of ours. They are living proof of miracles, and strength, goodness and love. These souls create moments of magic in other people’s lives…they have in mine. I think of them as elusive Unicorns who pass through my life reminding me that I have a loving heart. And even though my heart breaks when they leave, I know another will come along to fill that empty space even for a little while.

Maybe it was that Autumn when I learned to be at peace with letting people come in and out of my life as they needed or wanted. This time of year seems to be a beautiful time for Letting Go, to allow myself to become A Blank Slate in order to allow for healing and new beginnings.

A Favorite View of the Reedy River and Falls (photo by Ann Marquette)

I have always liked this month, partly because it is in the autumn season and also the month when we celebrate  Thanksgiving Day.  The end of the month is special to me because it’s my birthday 🙂

This is a VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY MONTH for me.  Not only is my birthday on Thanksgiving Day (or should I say Thanksgiving is on my birthday) this year :-), but the extra blessing is that my house in Georgia sold and I moved  to Greenville SC!  I am now in the place I have wanted to be for several years; the place where I truly feel at home.  Thank you God.

I am grateful to be alive, healthy, and richly blessed with wonderful people in my life…especially my brother.  I love you John.

Patti,  I know you loved the Autumn as I do.  What a beautiful time to walk into the next life with our Lord.  You sounded so good in your last post and the last comment you left on my post about Autumn.  I forgot how sick you were and that there was no cure.  Your husband left us the message on your blog today.  I will miss you.  I add more photos here of Autumn…for you Patti.

Ok, I know that in the U.S. this season is referred to as Fall, but the word Autumn creates a more beautiful vision for me…multi-colored leaves drifting to the ground thanks to a lovely breeze on a beautiful sunny day and cool crisp air.

This is a view of my autumn last year from the living room window.  The tree is gone now.

Ah September…the month when we sense the beginning of a new season to come ~Fall, or as I prefer “autumn” 🙂   In 20 days from now, it begins.

Today after church I went to Starbucks where I met up with friend Judi and her sweet puppy Tammy.  We spend a few hours over coffee and chatting about many subjects.  Then it was back to the house to do a couple things, freshen up, then pick up friend Barbara and out to a new Brazilian restaurant nearby for dinner and catching up.

Tonight I read some new posts from my blogger friends, some very deeply profound.
Thoughts on Moving On http://gingetz.com/2012/09/01/moving-on/
and, Sweet September http://teeceecounsel.wordpress.com/2012/09/01/sweet-september/
and, a new young writer whose words in two of her posts spoke to my heart, my spirit…  My Missing Piece http://anightcreature.wordpress.com/2012/09/02/writing-my-missing-piece/  and Cheerful Delusions http://anightcreature.wordpress.com/2012/09/02/20/

So now, I am stepping along the deep parts of me, remembering times gone by, my own missing pieces, and the acceptance that a lifelong dream although has never come to pass. Somewhere in time along this new path I am on a new dream will come to be ~ God’s BEST for me.

Autumn Leaves - Greenville Falls Park 2010

A great couple days filled with sunshine, both externally and internally. I am grateful every day for my blessings, and some of those are on my list of joys.

Waking up to a brand new day.

The beauty of the autumn leaves.

 Sharing lunch with a friend…Barbara.

The gift of a special chocolate cake given to me from Barbara…yum!

Hearing my Brother’s voice over the phone.

With the cooler weather yesterday and today I spent my time cleaning house from top to bottom. Actually almost close to spring cleaning in autumn. Another reason I’m cleaning is because I have someone coming to look at the house tomorrow…it’s For Sale.

Here is a view of my autumn from the living room window…

Autumn Tree in Northern California

Ah yes…the weather?

I wake just before the dawn.  Put on my slippers and robe.  I prepare a big mug of coffee.  I step outside the door…and it is a perfect cool morning.  The sun is not up yet, but I can see a clear sky.  It is so wonderful to enjoy the first cup of coffee and watching the day wake as the light comes up over the horizon.

My perfect all day weather is a clear, crisp, bright Fall day.  The leaves are changing colors, under a beautiful sunny sky with the occasional fluffy white clouds.  I take camera and go for a long leisurely drive, stopping wherever inspired to do so.

A perfect Autumn day…
