Thank you God for this first day of 2013, for the rain we need, for all the wonderful people in my life, for being with me as I walk the path of transition and begin working on my goals for this year.

I am grateful for a clean slate to write on, an empty vase to fill.  http://amarquette333.wordpress.com/2012/07/22/a-blank-slate-3/

The greatest gift of all time is God’s gift to us of His son Jesus.  Thank you God, and Happy Birthday Jesus.

Now remembering that He was born to give the gift of His life for our sins…that we are forgiven…let us give ourselves and others the GREAT GIFT OF FORGIVENESS. It is “Time for Letting Go”   http://amarquette333.wordpress.com/2010/12/20/time-for-letting-go/  and you will be richly blessed.

I have always liked this month, partly because it is in the autumn season and also the month when we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. The end of the month is special to me because it’s my birthday :-)

I am grateful to be alive, healthy, and richly blessed with wonderful people in my life…especially my brother.  I love you John.

Happy Sunday everyone.  I hope you all had a great weekend.

This morning, as I usually do, I watched and “listened” to Dr. Charles Stanley of InTouch.  The topic today was “Victory over Rejection.”  He talked about the various ways we have felt rejected in our lives, even words from our parents, friends, loved ones.  He reminds us that we need to remember that we are God’s child and He loves us unconditionally; and that He knows us to be so worthy that He gave his only son to die for us.

A comment my mother said many times to me when I was a child still haunts me.  What has haunted you?  Do you ever feel invisible (rejected)?  This is worth hearing for yourself…http://www.intouch.org/

The daughter of a friend of mine came by to tell me about the various knives and other kitchen tools by Cutco which are made in the U.S. and amazing quality.  She is doing this to earn money to help pay for a special summer physics course she is taking before starting her 2nd year at a university in North Carolina.  She did a great job in her presentation.

Then I went to my outdoor office, a table outside Starbucks, where I read and write.  Occasionally I catch up with my brother or a friend by phone, as I did today when a friend called.  Always enjoyable having conversations with friends, even if by phone.

It was lovely out today until the sound of thunder made those of us sitting outside look up to see the darkening sky.  Once it got closer I headed back to the house.  On the way there was a big bolt of lightning…yikes!  I arrived safe, but it was raining pretty hard.  We needed the rain, and it saved me from having to water the new sod the landscapers put down recently.

A blessed day.

Well I wondered what April would bring, and as in an earlier post there have been many blessings this month. Not just for me, but for others I know. But, April 30th was the first day of my new part time job. And, there is the possibility of making it into something special, for me and for the company. Time will tell, but for now I am grateful for another new beginning and the joy of another step on my journey.

Today I was thinking about the changing landscape within friend relationships and thought of  posting this piece again.

Friends are the richest blessings we can have.

When we accept a new friend into our lives, we must take them as they are…warts and wonders.

Our friends must be given the freedom to come and go, in and out of our lives as they need.
Yet, when we feel a great need to share a thought, feeling, or time with a friend we should let them know…especially to let them know we care for and love them.

Some friends are like leaves on a tree, and the time comes for them to fall away from our lives and move on to become friends with others. We each leave a part of ourselves with the other.

Other friends are like rocks, here to stay with us through thick and thin…all the days of our lives.

Friendships, long or short-term, should be cherished and tended as the most valuable gift we have in life.

Hearing good news, special blessings in other people’s lives brings me joy. Friend B recently received news from her cardiologist that her heart is beating much better, since the defibrillator was installed.  He told her if it is doing as good or better in six months she will be able to stop taking one of her meds.

My friend G received good news that her bank has agreed to reduce her mortgage payment so she is able to keep her house.

Long time friend L had some good news from her doctor.

Past co-worker and friend D quit her job in March.  Already she has been a contract job with a company she worked with a couple of years ago.

Missing my dear friend T, she has loved the work she has been doing for the last couple of years, but it was only half days pay.  She recently was offered a similar job full-time and more money.  So, her current employer counter offered with full-time, significantly more money, 2 weeks paid vacation a year and a big bonus.

Me and my brother closed on the sale of mother’s house in February.

These are just a few examples of God’s blessings since the beginning of this year…most of them just this month.

Bing Cherry Tree 2012 by Ann Marquette

For some reason the word April conjures up visions of newness, of spring blossoms, awakening from the winter season.

In the last several years I always like to begin something new in my life on the 1st day of April if possible, or within a couple days of it.  Sometimes things which begin at other times turn out better.  The right timing for the right circumstance can be any time.  When trusting God to put things in place for his best for us and in his time it is always better. With all this in mind I eagerly look forward to April 2012 and what surprises and blessings God has in store for me.  As I wait, I remember last year’s post on April 1st …

I am grateful for the blessing of special quiet time with God.

My Favorite Spot by Ann Marquette

I have a dream, which I believe God has placed in my heart.  It has been a long time already waiting for the right circumstances for the dream to be fulfilled.  In the meantime I pray I am walking the right steps to fulfill what I need to do while I am where I am, and prepare me for the time I can step into the path of my dream.

There have been tough times before and He has brought me through each one with loving kindness.  Throughout the years He has also gifted me with wonderful surprises beyond my wildest dreams.  He has gifted me with special joys in my life.  When I struggle with the questions of when, what, and how…I remember that He is preparing the best for me and I look forward to His next surprise, His next blessed gift.

Make a list of what brings you joy and post it somewhere you will see it often.  When times get you down, look at the list and remember those times.  Do what you can to help yourself, do your best, help others when you can; and leave the rest to God who loves you unconditionally.

P.S. Today I took my SUV in to Toyota for the oil and filter change.  The management had a Thanksgiving feast for all their employees.  After the staff ate, one of the managers came into the waiting room and invited those of us waiting on our vehicles to help ourselves to lunch :-)   It was good and a nice unexpected treat.
